Program Director Training Course

Standard Drill PD.2

Drill Purpose:  The Purpose of this drill is to increase the Trainee’s ownership viewpoint and responsibility in relation to their area.

Drill Setup: The Staff Training Officer (or assigned Coach) and the Trainee stand (or sit) in an area of the studio so as not to disturb other students in training.  The Coach provides the Trainee with the scripted scenario followed by the first of the 2 related questions “What would an owner of the business do?”. When the Trainee has provided an answer the Coach acknowledges the  answer and then gives the second related question for the scenario “What should you do?” and awaits the Trainee’s answer, followed by an acknowledgment.  The same 2 related questions are asked for each Scenario below.  The drill is ended when all of the scenarios have been asked and answered or if the Trainee expresses that they now have an increased ownership and responsibility for their area.

Scenarios:

  1. You walk into your studio and notice that 2 light bulbs are flickering in the ceiling…
  2. A student calls and says that they are going to depart from classes…
  3. On Monday you log into Genesis and take a look at your scheduling board for the week – there are no intros scheduled – no starts or restarts…
  4. Your cleaning exchange isn’t really doing a good job, yet they are attending their classes regularly…
  5. As you leave the studio one evening you notice that the sign out front is not lit – yet it’s already past dusk…
  6. Your assistant consistently shows up late or spends a lot of time on their cell phone rather than helping prepare for or clean up after class…
  7. A Staff Training Officer is instructing you to do something that directly contradicts Larry’s Tech…
  8. You find that a wall cabinet is loose and could potentially fall…
